How to use the duet guitar strap | Comfortable playing with stepless adjustment
"I wish I could change the length while playing." Ever felt that way?
The ideal strap length is different when playing sitting down versus standing up, isn't it? "I sit for rehearsals and stand for the actual performance... but it's a hassle to keep moving the holes," or "I want it just a little bit shorter, but there's no hole in the right spot." Have you ever felt that frustration?
Actually, you can easily solve those problems with the "duet" from 708works. In this article, I will explain how to use the duet from a craftsman's perspective.
What kind of guitar strap is the duet?
The duet is a strap born from the "best of both worlds" of two classic models: the "Wellington," popular for its classical charm, and the "courier," which excels in functionality.
Its appearance features an organic silhouette resembling fish scales, which is a trademark of 708works. While it offers a strong visual presence, it also possesses a major functional weapon: "stepless adjustment."
The biggest feature is "stepless length adjustment"
General guitar straps only allow you to change the length based on pre-punched holes. However, the duet's buckle structure allows you to pinpoint your desired length to the "millimeter," rather than in centimeter increments.
Delicate adjustments like "I want to lower it by just 1cm" are completely under your control. You will definitely find the position that fits your body type and playing style perfectly.
Basic usage of the duet
1. Attaching to the guitar
First, firmly insert the leather parts at both ends of the strap into the guitar's strap pins. The leather might feel a bit stiff while it's new, but this is a security design to prevent it from slipping off the pins. Please attach it by pushing it in firmly with the pad of your finger.
※If you are using an acoustic guitar or similar instrument that only has one strap pin, you can attach it smartly without any modifications by using our dedicated Onstage attachment.
2. How to adjust the length
Adjusting the duet is surprisingly simple. You can change the length steplessly just by sliding the belt through the buckle. To shorten it, pull the belt; to lengthen it, loosen it—that's all it takes.
You can adjust it carefully before you start playing, and once you get used to it, you can even make small, quick adjustments while you play.
If you don't have one yet, please experience the comfort of stepless adjustment for yourself. You can choose according to your playing style, from the classic color scheme of the duet - CW73R to the bright duet - CW73 White×Ivory.
3. Tips for positioning
Aim for a position where the scale-shaped parts sit near your chest to accentuate the beauty of the design. Also, the leather will conform to your body the more you use it, and its color and luster will deepen over time. Enjoy that initial "stiff" feeling as the process of it growing into your very own personal strap.
Care for long-term use
Since the duet uses genuine leather, a dry wipe is basically all that's needed. After you've worked up a sweat, quickly wipe it with a soft cloth and store it in a well-ventilated place. If you're concerned about dryness, applying a thin layer of leather cream will help maintain its suppleness for longer.
While the metal parts (such as the POM buckle) are highly durable, the secret to longevity is to handle them gently without applying excessive force.
The perfect strap for your performance
Many people find that once they experience the duet's stepless adjustment, they "can't go back to hole-based straps." Being able to play in your best possible position, whether sitting or standing, should change the way you approach your music just a little bit.
